A butterfly knife, also known as a fan knife or balisong, is an exquisite and deceptively complex tool. It features two hinged handles connected by a middle tang equipped with a sharp blade at one end. When closed, the tang sits in between both handles and when opened, the handles form a V shape and can be used to cut or puncture whatever needs cutting or piercing. The butterfly knife has been around for centuries and has several names depending on which country the knife originates from.
